Uxmal and Ochil: Echoes from the past

Uxmal and Ochil: Echoes from the past

The past reveals itself and echoes in an experience from different eras. On one side, a beautiful town, a magical town, aligned according to the stars. On the other, a living site that started as a cattle and mining hacienda and today manifests itself as a large sculpture that welcomes various protagonists.

  • Visit stunning pre-Hispanic buildings in Uxmal: the Piramide del Adivino (Soothsayer’s Pyramid), the Palacio del Gobernador (Governor’s Palace), the Cuadrangulo de las Monjas (Nuns’ Square) and the Casa de las Tortugas (Tortoises’ House).
  • Stroll through components and spaces where Moorish and Neoclassical styles come together with Mayan platforms remains in the Abalá zone, with a contemporary amphitheater that leads to a cenote, at the San Pedro Ochil Hacienda.
  • The tour starts at the “truc” (a means of transportation in henequen hacienda times), where we will see a road of palm trees, the hacienda’s chimney and a henequen field.
  • Surrounded by nature, history and culture, enjoy a meal of Yucatecan delicacies: lime soup, cochinita pibil (slow roasted pork) and relleno negro (black stuffing).
